Extra Details:: Human vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF 165) is produced as a homodimer. It binds to the FLT1/VEGFR1 and KDR/VEGFR2 receptors, heparan sulfate and heparin. VEGF 165 is a specific mitogen for vascular endothelial cells and a strong angiogenic factor in vivo. In addition to its action as a mitogen it is a potent vascular permeability factor (VPF) in vivo. It is also a chemoattractant molecule for monocytes and endothelial cells. It induces endothelial cell proliferation, promotes cell migration, inhibits apoptosis and induces permeabilization of blood vessels. Recombinant protein surrounding amino acid 165 from human VEGF 165, expressed in Sf9 cells. Molecular Weight: ~45kD Biological Activity: The ED50 for stimulation of cell proliferation by human umbilical vein endothelial cells for VEGF 165 has been determined to be in the range of 1-4ng/ml. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with 50mM acetic acid. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
