Extra Details:: Pituitary Extract, bovine (PEX) is an extract of bovine pituitary tissue containing growth factors. PEX can be used to promote the growth of several types of human epithelial cells in culture. Pituitary extract, bovine, is prepared using a modification of a published procedure. Prepared fresh, unfrozen glands to ensure maximal mitogenic response. Optimal Medium Supplementation Rate: 35ug/ml. Different cell types may require adjusted supplementation levels. Appearance: Sterile-filtered, frozen liquid Source/Country of Origin: Obtained from the extraction of fresh frozen bovine pituitary glands in saline solution. The pituitaries are collected in the contiguous 48 United States only from USDA inspected facilities where animals receive ante and post mortem inspection. The pituitaries are found free of contagious diseases. Storage and Stability: Store at -20°C until ready for use. Repeated freeze-thaws will reduce activity and should be avoided by proper aliquoting.
