This antibody is specific to Insulin-like Growth Factor (IGF-1) and shows minimal cross-reaction with IGF-11, Proinsulin, MSF, and Insulin. IGF-1 is a polypeptide growth factor with two isoforms that are produced by alternative splicing. Isoform 1 is also known as IGF-IB while isoform 2 is known as IGF-IA. IGF-1 stimulates the proliferation of a wide range of cell types including muscle, bone and cartilage tissue. It functions as an autocrine regulator of growth. Activation of IGF system has emerged as a key factor for tumor progression and resistance to apoptosis in many cancers like those of breast, thyroid and colon. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Flow Cytometry, ELISA, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Flow Cytometry: 0.5-1ug/million cells Immunofluorescence: 1-2ug/ml Immunoprecipitation: 1-2ug/500ug protein Western Blot: 0.5-1.0ug/ml Immunohistochemistry (Formalin-fixed): 1-2ug/ml for 30 min at RT In-vitro Neutralization of Biological Activity of IGF-1 (Order Ab without Azide) Optimal dilution for a specific application should be determined. Positive Control: Pancreas or brain. Breast, Thyroid or Colon Cancers; IGF-1 recombinant protein Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
