- p53 was identified as a tumor suppressor by showing to block the transformation and to inhibit tumor cell growth. In addition, this protein is a transcription factor capable of regulating the expression of a subset of downstream genes. Different mutations in p53 gene have been characterized in a variety of human cancers. Loss or mutation of p53 function is highly correlated with tumorigenesis. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:200-1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
