Extra Details:: Growth hormone (GH), also known as somatotropin, is a member of a family of growth factors that includes prolactin, placental lactogens, proliferins, and somatolactin. It is synthesized primarily by somatotropes in the anterior pituitary and is stored in secretory granules. Recombinant protein corresponding to Phe27-Phe217, with an N-terminal Met, from human GH2, expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~20kD Biological Activity: Measured in a cell proliferation assay using Nb2‑11 rat lymphoma cells. Gout, P.W. et al. (1980) Cancer Res. 40:2433. The ED50 for this effect is 0.2-1.2ng/ml. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile HCl. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
