Extra Details:
This monoclonal antibody recognizes a protein of ~50kD which is identified as Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP). It shows no cross-reaction with other intermediate filament proteins. GFAP is specifically found in astroglia. GFAP is a very popular marker for localizing benign astrocyte and neoplastic cells of glial origin in the central nervous system. Antibody to GFAP is useful in differentiating primary gliomas from metastatic lesions in the brain and for documenting astrocytic differentiation in tumors outside the CNS. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Flow Cytometry, Immunofluorescence, Immunoprecipitation and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 0.5-1ug/ml Flow Cytometry: 0.5-1ug/10e6 cells Immunofluorescence: 1-2ug/ml Immunohistochemistry (Frozen & Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 0.5-1ug/ml/30min @ RT Immunoprecipitation: 1-2ug/500ug protein lysate Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Brain or Astrocytoma Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
