Extra Details:
Protein A is a 40-60kD MSCRAMM surface protein originally found in the cell wall of the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. It is encoded by the spa gene and its regulation is controlled by DNA topology, cellular osmolarity, and a two-component system called ArlS-ArlR. It has found use in biochemical research because of its ability to bind immunoglobulins. It binds proteins from many of mammalian species, most notably IgGs. It binds with the Fc region of immunoglobulins through interaction with the heavy chain. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunofluorescence: 1:500-1:2500 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Texas Red® conjugates are sensitive to light.
