Interferons (IFNs) are proteins made and released by lymphocytes in response to the presence of pathogens-such as viruses, bacteria, or parasites-or tumor cells. They allow communication between cells to trigger the protective defenses of the immune system that eradicate pathogens or tumors. The IFN- alpha proteins are produced by leukocytes. They are mainly involved in innate immune response against viral infection. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry: Frozen sections, used successfully for the detection of interferon-alpha producing cells on cryostat sections in a human suction blister model Optimal dilutions to be determined by researcher. Affinity Constant: 2.4x10e-10L/mole Hybridoma: X63.Ag8.653 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
