Extra Details:: A peptide substrate for Histone 4 (R3) methyltransferases. The peptide corresponds to aa1-21 of histone H4. Histone acetyltransferase (HAT) p300/CBP catalyzes the acetylation of this N-terminal tail of free histone H4 at Lys5, 8, 12, 16. Lys8 is thought to be the preferred acetylation site in H4. A number of methyltransferases also modify this region of the histone. Application: Study enzyme kinetics, and screen small molecular inhibitors of Histone 3 (R3) methyltransferases for drug discovery and HTS applications. Other applications not tested. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months.
