- This gene is a member of the septin family of GTPases. Members of this family are required for cytokinesis. This gene encodes a protein associated with the tau-based paired helical filament core, and may contribute to the formation of neurofibrillary tangles in Alzheimer's disease. SEPT2, otherwise known as septin-2, is a cytoskeletal GTPase and member of the septin family, essential for the formation of filaments, in conjunction with SEPT6 and SEPT7. SEPT2 plays an important role during mitosis progression/cytokinesis, in the correct organization of the actin cytoskeleton, and maintains polyGlu microtubule tracks, thereby facilitating epithelial cell vesicle transport. Applications: Suitable for use in FLISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
