- Protocadherin alpha-2 is 1 of 15 tandemly arranged genes within the PCDHA gene cluster. These 15 N-terminal \'variable\' exons are individually spliced to a downstream C-terminal constant region to form distinct PCDHA transcripts. The large, uninterrupted N-terminal exons each encode six cadherin ectodomains while the C-terminal exons encode the cytoplasmic domain. The PCDH proteins are cadherin-like cell surface proteins that are expressed in neurons and are present at synaptic junctions. These neural cadherin-like cell adhesion proteins most likely play a critical role in the establishment and function of specific cell-cell connections in the brain. Applications: Suitable for use in FLISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. AA Sequence: SESLSLVLGKSLDREETAEVNLLLVATDGGKPELTGTVQILIKVLDVNDNEPTFAQSVYKVKLLENTANGTLVVKLNASDADEGPNSEIVYSLGSDVSST Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: FITC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
