- Centromere protein A (CENP-A) is a centromere-specific histone variant which forms an octameric complex with Histones H4, H2A, and H2B, in the presence of DNA. CENP-A defines active centromere regions by forming centromere-specific nucleosomes on which kinetochores are assembled. CENP-A is specifically located to the inner plate of the kinetochore and it is essential for kinetochore targeting of CENP-C and other kinetochore components. CENP-A is required for nucleosomal packaging of centromeric DNA at interphase. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
