Extra Details:
Fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP4) is a member of the intracellular lipid-binding protein (iLBP) family. It is composed of a β-barrel, which forms the lipid-binding site, and two α-helices that form a lid on the β-barrel. FABP4 is primarily expressed in adipocytes but has also been found in activated macrophages. It is involved in lipid transport and metabolism, insulin resistance, and angiogenesis, and its expression is induced by long-chain fatty acids and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) agonists. Knockout of Fabp4 prevents the development of atherosclerosis in ApoE-/- mice and increases body weight gain and insulin sensitivity in ob/ob mice. Serum levels of FABP4 are increased in patients with colorectal cancer, and serum and synovial fluid levels of FABP4 are increased in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry and Immunofluorescence. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunofluorescence: 1:200 Western Blot: 1:200 Immunohistochemistry (FFPE): 1:80. Requires HIER using sodium citrate buffer pH6.0 prior to staining. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
