- Keratin 5 is a type II keratin that pairs with keratin 14, while keratin 6 is a type II keratin upregulated in hyperproliferative states such as wound healing and psoriasis. Together, keratins 5 and 6 form filament networks that maintain cytoskeletal integrity and provide mechanical support against stress. Aberrant expression patterns of these keratins are associated with disease progression in cancer and dermatological conditions. 058630 provides specific and reproducible detection of these basal keratins. Research using 058630 has shown how cytokeratin 5/6 expression helps define squamous differentiation in lung carcinomas and basal-like breast cancers. In dermatology, detection of keratin 6 highlights regenerative activity in skin injury and chronic inflammatory disease. This antibody provides a foundation for both diagnostic pathology and mechanistic studies of epithelial biology. 058630 is a useful aid for classification of epithelioid mesotheliomas. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (FFPE): 1-2ug/ml. Requires high temperature antigen retrieval using 10mM Tris, pH 9.0, 0.01M EDTA solution; boil for 20 minutes, then cool down at room temperature. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Localization: Cytoplasmic Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
