Extra Details:
Histone H3 is one of the four core histones that make up the nucleosome core particle. Nucleosomes are the smallest subunit of chromatin and are made up of 146 bp of DNA wrapped around an octamer comprised of pairs of the four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4) (Smith, 1991). Histones can be mono-, di- or tri-methylated by histone methyltransferases. Depending on which amino acid residues are methylated, methylation of histones may increase or decrease the transcription of genes. Di-methylation of lysine 27 of histone H3 usually results in transcriptional repression. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunofluorescence. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunofluorescence: 1-2ug/ml. Western Blot: 1-2ug/ml. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
