- The Epstein-Barr virus or EBV is associated with several human cancers and actively immortalizes B lymphocytes. EBV is leads to expression by a small group of viral proteins, including Epstein-Barr nuclear antigen 2 (EBNA2) which is required for immortalization. EBNA2 is a transcriptional activator belonging to the herpesviridae EBNA2 family, and performs a crucial role in activating the host resting B-cell and inducing B-cell proliferation. EBNA2 possesses an acidic activating domain with which it is able to recruit various cellular and viral involved in B-cell immortalization. Implicated in cellular phenotypic modifications, EBNA2 is known to upregulate the expression of cell surface receptors, such as CD21, MYC, and CD23, as well as upregulating viral genes such as LMP1, LMP2A, LMP2B, and EBNA1-6. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, Immunoprecipitation and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 0.5ug/ml detected EBNA2 on 10ug of B95-8 cell lysate. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
