Extra Details:: Serum Amyloid P-component (SAP), also known as 9.5S alpha-1-glycoprotein, is a member of the pentraxin family of proteins. It is synthesized by hepatocytes and secreted into the blood. In humans the levels of SAP range between 20-50ug/ml (Pilling & Gomer 2018). SAP is able to bind to a variety of molecules including apoptotic debris, bacterial polysaccharides, amyloid deposits and bacterial toxins. Phagocytic cells such as monocytes and macrophages then bind the SAP and engulf the material bound to SAP as part of debris clearance (Pilling & Gomer 2018). Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: 1ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Matched Pair: Capture: 048668 Detection: 048669 Hybridoma: SP2/0 myeloma cell line Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
