- Extra Details:
- Cytoskeleton-associated protein 5 (CKAP5) is a member of the TOG/XMAP215 family containing heat repeats and plays a role in kinetochore mircotubule protection from depolymerization by MCAK. CKAP5 is the homolog of the Xenopus protein, XMAP25 (also known as chTog), which plays an essential role in centrosomal assembly. CKAP5 is localized in the perinuclear cytoplasm during interphase and at the spindle poles and centrosomes during mitosis. Studies show CKAP5 interacts with TACC1, TACC3, and tubulin leading to the hypothesis that it functions in spindle microtuble organization. Hepatomas and colonic tumors have shown overexpression of CKAP5. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunocytochemistry: 1:500 detected CKAP5 in A431 cells. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
