IL-1beta stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B cell maturation and proliferation and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1beta belongs to the IL-1 family of proteins that are involved in the inflammatory response. IL-1beta in most situations requires the inflammasome complex to be cleaved and secreted.
