Extra Details:
SOD1 (superoxide dismutase 1, soluble), also known as ALS. The protein binds copper and zinc ions and is one of two isozymes responsible for destroying free superoxide radicals in the body. The encoded isozyme is a soluble cytoplasmic protein, acting as a homodimer to convert naturally-occuring but harmful superoxide radicals to molecular oxygen and hydrogen peroxide. The other isozyme is a mitochondrial protein. Mutations in this gene have been implicated as causes of familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive degenerative disease of motor neurons. Rare transcript variants have been reported for this gene. Applications: Suitable for us in Western Blot, Immunofluorescence, Immunocytochemistry, ELISA and Flow Cytometry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 1:500-1:2000 Immunofluorescence (IC): 1:200-1:1000 Flow Cytometry: 1:200-1:400 ELISA: 1:10,000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
