- Extra Details:
- Cadherin-3 (CDH3), also known as P-Cadherin, is a classical cadherin that functions as a calcium-dependent glycoprotein mediating cell-cell adhesion. Structurally, it is characterized by five extracellular cadherin repeats, a single transmembrane domain, and a highly conserved cytoplasmic tail. The CDH3 gene resides within a cadherin cluster on chromosome 16q, a genomic region linked to loss of heterozygosity in breast and prostate cancer. Furthermore, aberrant expression of the protein is implicated in the pathology of cervical adenocarcinoma.
