Main functions of DDX3 involve transcription, mRNA export and translation, regulation of apoptosis and hepatitis C virus (HCV) replication. DDX3 has two isoforms produced by alternative splicing. The cytoplasmic form is highly phosphorylated in the G1/S. DDX3 is primarily expressed in nucleus during G0 phase and in the cytoplasm during G1/S phase.
