Extra Details:: Angiopoietin-like protein 3 (ANGPTL3) also known as Angiopoietin-related protein 3, Angiopoietin-5 (ANG-5) is a secreted glycoprotein that is structurally related to the angiopoietins.Human ANGPTL3 contains an N-terminal coiled coil domain and a C-terminal fibrinogen-like domain. The fibrinogen C-terminal domain is sufficient to mediate endothelial cell adhesion. ANGPTL3 is principally expressed in the liver and can exert activities related to both angiogenesis and lipid metabolism.ANGPTL3 directly inhibits lipoprotein lipase (LPL) and endothelial lipase (EL), enzymes responsible for hydrolyzing circulating triglycerides and HDL phospholipids.
