- Telomeres are nucleoprotein structures at the ends of eukaryotic chromosomes. They regulate several crucial cellular functions and participate in the control of complex phenotypes, such as aging and cancer. Cell immortalization is strongly associated with the stabilization of telomere length. Therefore, it is suggested that cancer cells achieve immortalization in part through illegitimate activation of telomerase expression. hTERT is the rate-limiting catalytic subunit of telomerase. Telomerase is an enzyme uniquely associated with immortal cell lines and is useful for identifying undifferentiated PSCs. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: 293T whole cell lysates, HeLa whole cell lysates Cellular Localization: Nuclear Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 3 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
