- 5HT2C is a 45kD 7TM receptor for serotonin and is neuronally expressed in the limbic system of the brain. The release of dopamine due to 5HT2C ligation regulates mood, appetite, and motivation. 5HT2C is an important pharmacologic target in the treatment of psychosis, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, and migrane headaches. Multiple isoforms of 5HT2C can be generated by RNA editing. Human 5HT2C shares 89% aa sequence identity with mouse and rat 5HT2C. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Flow Cytometry: 2.5ug/10e6 cells using A172 human glioblastoma cell line Immunohistochemistry: 8-25ug/ml in immersion fixed paraffin-embedded sections of human brain (cortex). Heat-induced epitope retrieval using Antigen retrieval reagent basic Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
