- Nerve growth factor is important for the development and maintenance of the sympathetic and sensory nervous systems. It stimulates division and differentiation of sympathetic and embryonic sensory neurons. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, ELISA, Western Blot and Inhibition of biological activity in vitro. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunohistochemistry (frozen): 1-3ug/ml Western Blot: 1-3ug/ml ELISA: 1-3ug/ml Inhibition of biological activity in vitro: 1-3ug/ml Use neat for in vivo studies: 2-10ug/mL (ED50). Optimal dilution determined by the researcher. Biological Activity: Whole sheep antisera will completely inhibit the survival and neurite outgrowth actions of mouse NGF in chicken dorsal root ganglion neurons in vitro. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
