- Interleukin 17 (cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated serine esterase 8) is a proinflammatory cytokine produced by activated T cells. This cytokine regulates the activities of NF-kappaB and mitogen-activated protein kinases. This cytokine can stimulate the expression of IL6 and cyclooxygenase-2 (PTGS2/COX-2), as well as enhance the production of nitric oxide (NO). High levels of this cytokine are associated with several chronic inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and multiple sclerosis. Interleukin-17 (IL-17) and its cognate receptor, IL- 17R, are examples of cytokine receptor pairs. IL-17 protein exhibits a striking degree of homology with the HSV13 protein which mimics its function. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: Useful as a detection antibody in a sandwich ELISA for quantifying mouse IL-17 protein levels. Biotinylated antibody should be paired with purified antibody (Cat. No. I8439-04G) as the capture antibody, with purified recombinant mouse IL-17 as the standard. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
