- Humanin (HN) encodes a polypeptide that appears to protect neurons from both cytotoxic and apoptotic cell death in Alzheimer’s disease. Analogues of the HN peptide have been shown to spare memory in animal models of Alzheimer’s, suggesting its potentially important therapeutic role. It is found in highest levels in testis, colon, and AD-affected brain tissues. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot against the human HN peptide and cell lysates of 293T cells transfected with a GFP tagged HN. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
