- Epothilone B is a microtubule inhibitor isolated from the myxobacteria, Sorangium cellulosum. Like epothilone A, epothilone B acts by stabilising microtubule formation at the taxol binding site and causes cell cycle arrest at the G2/M transition, leading to cytotoxicity. Source: Epothilone B from Sorangium cellulosum. Molecular Weight: ~507.7 Solubility: Soluble in ethanol, methanol, DMF or DMSO. Poor water solubility. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with DMSO. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
