- Met-enkephalin is a pentapeptide that appears to enhance immune function at low doses and suppresse at high doses. This molecule acts in the central nervous, neuroendocrine, and immune systems. Cells from these systems have receptors for met-enkephalin and are able to generate met enkephalin from its prohormone, proenkephalin A. Met-enkephalin may be capable of enhancing immune function in cancer or AIDS patients. It is known to be an endogenous ligand for opioid receptors and acts to mediate analgesia at the spinal level. Plasma met enkaphalin levels are significantly higher in patients with type I diabetes and could play a role in glucose homeostasis. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunohistochemistry: 5-10ug/ml Immunofluorescence (IC): 5-15ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
