- Calmyrin is identified as a calcium-binding protein with a molecular weight of ~22kD. Calmyrin displays various properties, including myristoylation, membrane-association, and colocalization with presenilin-2 (PS-2). Functionally, like presenilin, calmyrin causes cell death when overexpressed in HeLa cells. Interestingly, calmyrin coexpresses with PS-2, and induces additive effects in apoptosis. These results indicate diverse roles of calmyrin in cell signaling, cell death and Alzheimer disease through the modulation of presenilin function. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 0.1–1ug/ml Western Blot: 1-3ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
