- c-erbB-2 is a membrane-associated oncoprotein having considerable sequence homology to EGFR. C-erbB-2 is the second member of the EGF receptor tyrosine kinase family of growth factor receptors. Overexpression of c-erbB-2/HER-2 is reportedly a marker of poor prognosis in node-positive and in defined subsets of node-negative breast cancer. Elevated levels of c-erbB-2/HER-2 has also been implicated in response to chemotherapy. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunoprecipitation and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunoprecipitation: Denatured verified Immunohistochemistry: Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 10-20 minutes followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Postive Control: SKBR-3 or MAD109 cells, or breast carcinomas. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
