Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMP) are members of the TGF beta superfamily of cytokines that affect bone and cartilage formation. Similar to other TGF beta family proteins, BMPs are highly conserved across animal species. BMPs are involved in embryogenesis and morphogenesis of various tissues and organs. BMP6 is an autocrine stimulator of chondrocyte differentiation and has been implicated in the development of embryonic kidney and urinary systems. It is involved in liver growth and differentiation, keratinocyte differentiation, and regulation of neuronal tissue development. BMP6 expression is localized to smooth muscle cells of normal cerebral blood vessels, intimal plaques and atherosclerotically changed blood vessels, further suggesting a role as a regulator of developing tissues. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Neutralization and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: 0.5-1.0 ug/ml. The detecton limit for recombinant human BMP-6 is ~6.2ng/well. Western Blot: 1-20ug/ml. The detection limit for recombinant human BMP6 is ~ 20ng/lane under non-reducing conditions. Neutralization: 0.5-2ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
