- Geministatin C is a minor co-metabolite and degradation product of geministatin A, a recently described depside antibiotic isolated from the fungus Austroacremonium gemini. Geministatin C is formed by acid hydrolysis in methanol to cleave the depside ester of geministatin A. Geministatin C possesses weak cytotoxic activity, but was inactive against S. aureus, MRSA and S. cerevesiae. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with methanol or DMSO. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
