- The murine gene Nup98 encodes the 1816-amino acid nuclear pore complex protein Nup98-Nup96 (UniProt Q6PFD9), which is posttranslationally autocleaved between aa 800 and 801 to form Nup98 (aa1-800) and Nup96 (aa801-1816). The nuclear pore complex (NPC) acts as a passageway for nucleocytoplasmic transport. The core structure of the NPC is maintained by the Nup93-205 complex sandwiched between the supporting structures of the Nup107-160 complex on the nuclear and cytoplasmic faces of the pore. Nup96 is a component of the Nup107-160 complex, the largest subunit of the NPC. Nup96 knockout is reported to be fatal in mice and Nup96(+/-) mice with low levels of Nup96 display impaired immune response and are highly susceptible to viral infection. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 2ug/ml detected Nup96 in 10ug of NIH/3T3 cell lysate. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
