- The GABA A Receptor is a member of the superfamily of fast acting ligand-gated ion channels. The individual subunits of these receptors have similar sequences and structural features (1). GABA-A receptors are the major fast inhibitory neurotransmitter gated ion channels in the brain (2). Recent research shows their usage in investigating side effects of drugs and the effects of learning and memory. Inverse agonists of the Alpha5 subunit may be useful in the treatment of Alzheimer's Disease (3). Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence, Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000 for detection of GABA-A R, Alpha5 in 20ug of mouse brain lysate by ECL Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
