- ABCG5 is a member of the superfamily of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. ABC proteins transport various molecules across extra- and intra-cellular membranes. ABC genes are divided into seven distinct subfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White). This protein is a member of the White subfamily. The protein encoded by this gene functions as a half-transporter to limit intestinal absorption and promote biliary excretion of sterols. It is expressed in a tissue-specific manner in the liver, colon, and intestine. This gene is tandemly arrayed on chromosome 2, in a head-to-head orientation with family member ABCG8. Mutations in this gene may contribute to sterol accumulation and atheroschlerosis, and have been observed in patients with sitosterolemia. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 0.05-2ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control Included: 369444A: ABCG5, Positive Control Suppled as a recombinant protein in loading buffer (100mM Tris, pH 6.8, 1% SDS, 150mM sodium chloride, 50mM DTT, 0.02% BPB, 0.02% sodium azide, 50% glycerol). DAB: 10ul/well ECL: 5ul/well Store at -20°C. Stable for 6 months after receipt. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
