- Glo1, also known as lactoylglutathione lyase, is a member of the glyoxalase l family. It plays a critical role in the detoxification of 2-oxoaldehydes, such as methylglyoxal. It involved in the regulation of TNF-induced transcriptional activity of NF-kappa-B. It was identified as a protein marker, which is consistently expressed to a higher extent in LAB-M than in HAB-M mice in several brain areas. Recombinant protein corresponding to aa1-184 from mouse Glo1, fused to His-Tag at C-terminal, expressed in insect cell. Molecular Weight: ~21.8kD (192aa) 28-40kD (SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions) Specific Activity: >210units/mg, and is defined as the amount of enzyme that will form 1micromol of S-lactoylglutathione from methylglyoxal and reduced glutathione/minute at pH 6.5 at 25°C. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
