- VAPB is a type IV membrane protein found in plasma and intracellular vesicle membranes. The encoded protein is found as a homodimer and as a heterodimer with VAPA. This protein also can interact with VAMP1 and VAMP2 and may be involved in vesicle trafficking. Sequence analysis predicted that the 243aa VAPB protein, which is 60% homologous to VAPA, contains a conserved N-terminal domain, an alpha-helical coiled-coil domain, and a C-terminal transmembrane domain. The 99aa VAPC protein is a splice variant of VAPB that retains the N-terminal 70 residues but lacks the coiled-coil and transmembrane domains. Expression of VAPB was less intense than that of VAPA or the 1.9kb VAPC transcript. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:100-5000 Western Blot: 1:50-400 Immunohistochemistry (frozen): 1:50-500 Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 1:10-100 Immunocytochemistry: 1:50-500 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
