- LACTB encodes a protein from the large 39S subunit of the mitochondrial ribosome. LACTb has some sequence similarity to prokaryotic beta-lactamases but most of the residues that are responsible for the beta-lactamase activity are not conserved between the two proteins. The deduced 551aa Lactb protein contains an N-terminal transmembrane domain and an alpha/beta-hydrolase fold catalytic site. LACTB, which encodes a predicted 549aa protein that shares 90% aa identity with mouse Lactb. Northern blot analysis of mouse tissues detected expression at high levels in liver, heart, and skeletal muscle, with lower levels in kidney, testis, brain, lung, and spleen. Northern blot analysis of human tissues detected a 2.3kb transcript expressed at high levels in heart and skeletal muscle. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:100-5000 Western Blot: 1:50-400 Immunohistochemistry (frozen): 1:50-500 Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 1:10-100 Immunocytochemistry: 1:50-500 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
