- Cadherin-5, though member of the family of cadherins has been shown to be functionally as well as structurally distinct from classical cadherins (e.g. E-, N-, P-cadherins). Through its function and location cadherin-5 has been named VE-cadherin. VE-cadherin belongs to the adhesion molecules responsible for cellular interactions. The vascular endothelial cadherin (VE-cadherin) gene encodes a Ca2 -dependent cell adhesion molecule required for the organization of interendothelial junctions. This gene is exclusively and constitutively expressed in endothelial cells. The corresponding protein, an endothelial-specific cadherin, is localized at the intercellular junctions. VE-cadherin mediates homophilic, calcium-dependent aggregation and cell-to-cell adhesion. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:100-5000 Western Blot: 1:50-400 Immunohistochemistry (frozen): 1:50-500 Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 1:10-100 Immunocytochemistry: 1:50-500 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
