- The protein tyrosine phosphatase PTPN5, also known as Striatal enriched phosphatase (STEP), is involved in the regulation of synaptic plasticity and neuronal cell survival, including MAPKs, Src family kinases and NMDA receptors (1). It is expressed in dopaminoceptive neurons of the central nervous system and multiple forms of PTPN5 show differential enrichment in adult brain regions (2). NMDA-mediated activation of PTPN5 is an important mechanism for regulation of Erk activity in neurons (3). Furthermore, PTPN5 is involved in the regulation of both NMDAR and AMPAR trafficking (4,5). PTPN5 may play a role in Alzheimer's disease (1). Applications: Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunofluorescence: 20ug/ml Western Blot: 1-2ug/ml Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 5ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Jurkat Cell Lysate Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
