- EpCAM, also known as TROP1 and tumor-associated calcium signal transducer-1, is a 40kD glycoprotein. During embryonic development, EpCAM is detected in fetal lung, kidney, liver, pancreas, skin, and germ cells. In adults, human EpCAM is detected in basolateral cell membranes of all simple, pseudo-stratified, and transitional epithelia, but it is not detected in normal squamous stratified epithelia, mesenchymal tissue, muscular tissue, neuro- endocrine tissue, or lymphoid tissue. EpCAM expression has been found to increase in actively proliferating epithelial tissues and during adult liver regeneration. EpCAM expression is also found to increase in human malignant neoplasias. Most carcinomas express EpCAM, including those arising from squamousal epithelia. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Flow Cytometry: 10ul, 1x10e6 cells Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4°C in the dark. DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4°C for 12 months after receipt as an undiluted liquid. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: PE conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap.
