- Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion molecules that mediate cell-cell binding in a homophilic manner. They play an important role in the growth and development of cells via the mechanisms of control of tissue architecture and the maintenance of tissue integrity. Cadherin expression is regulated spatially as well as temporally. Cadherins are thought to play an important role in development and maintenance of tissues through selective cell-cell adhesion activity and may be involved also in the invasion and metastasis of malignant tumors. Cadherin regulates dendritic spine morphogenesis. A cadherin gene cluster is mapped to a region of chromosome 5 subject to frequent allelic loss in carcinoma. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 2-4ug/ml. Requires HIER using sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 prior to staining. Western Blot: 1-2ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
