- Elastin is a major structural protein of tissues such as aorta, which must expand rapidly and recover completely. Elastin chains are cross-linked together into an extensible 3D network. It is a molecular determinant of late arterial morphogenesis, stabilizing arterial structure by regulating proliferation and organization of vascular smooth muscle. Defects in elastin are a cause of autosomal dominant cutis laxa. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Handling: Store at -20˚C for one year. After reconstitution, store at 4˚C for one month. Can also be aliquoted and stored frozen at -20˚C for long term. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
