- Podocalyxin is a member of the CD34 transmembrane sialomucin family. It is over-expressed on the podocyte foot projections and plays essential roles in kidne y development and homeostasis, blood filtration and urine formation. It is also expressed on va scular endothelia, hematopoietic progenitors and a subset of neurons. Overexpression of podocalyxin may be linked to more aggressive tumor behavior. Podocalyxin antibody can identify podocytes in the urine (podocyturi a) that may indicate glomerular disease, pre-eclampsia, and other kidney pathology. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunofluorescence, Flow Cytometry and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunofluorescence: 1-3ug/ml Flow Cytometry: 1-2ug/10e6 cells Western Blot: 2-4ug/ml Immunohistochemistry (FFPE): 1-2ug/ml. Staining of formalin fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10mM Tris 1mM EDTA,, pH 9.0 for 45 minutes at 95ºC followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: HeLa, Raji, Jurkat cells, Angiosarcoma, Breast, Prostate, Liver, Pancreatic, Kidney Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
