- SAA4 is a constitutively expressed protein belonging to the SAA family. It is a major acute phase reactant and an apolipoprotein of the HDL complex. SAA4 is constitutively expressed only in humans and mice, is associated almost entirely with lipoproteins of the high density range. Its physiological function is unknown and its serum concentration has no relationship with those of other major apolipoproteins. The presence of SAA4 mRNA and protein in macrophage derived foam cells of coronary and carotid arteries suggested a specific role of human SAA4 during inflammation including atherosclerosis. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
