- Phosphodiesterase 5A, a cGMP-specific phosphodiesterase, has been implicated in primary pulmonary hypertension, cardiac failure and erectile dysfunction. PDE5A also may function in the regulation of coronary blood flow. PDE5A is the predominant enzyme responsible for cGMP hydrolysis in trabecular smooth muscle. PDE5A activitity is inhibited by sildenafil (Viagra) and zaprinast. At least three alternatively spliced transcripts have been reported. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at 4°C. Aliquots are stable at 4°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Note: Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
