- Centromere protein A (CENP-A) is a centromere-specific histone variant which forms an octameric complex with Histones H4, H2A, and H2B, in the presence of DNA. CENP-A defines active centromere regions by forming centromere-specific nucleosomes on which kinetochores are assembled. CENP-A is specifically located to the inner plate of the kinetochore and it is essential for kinetochore targeting of CENP-C and other kinetochore components. CENP-A is required for nucleosomal packaging of centromeric DNA at interphase. Applications: Suitable for use in FLISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: FITC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
