- The CD79 molecule, comprising two polypeptide chains, mb-1 (CD79a) and B29 (CD79b), is physically associated in the B-cell membrane with immunoglobulins to constitute the B cell antigen receptor (BCR). The CD79a/b heterodimer interacts with at least one tyrosine kinase (Lyn). Induction of tyrosine kinase activity after antigen binding causes phosphorylation of the CD79a/b dimer, and also of other molecules, thereby initiating intracellular signaling. Almost all acute lymphoblastic leukemias of precursor B cell type are positive when tested with CD79a antibodies. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
